Acana Appalachian Ranch features an awesome 70% meat, game, and fish ingredients, including Appalachian angus beef, Kentucky Yorkshire pork, grass-fed Kentucky lamb, Appalachian American bison, and wild-caught Kentucky blue catfish. These meats are highly-palatable and offer numerous nutritional benefits. For example, catfish, a novel fish protein, is an excellent source of protein that is low in fat and that provides important fatty acids. Whole green peas, red lentils, and pinto beans are low-glycemic carbohydrates that help to stabilize blood sugar levels. A variety of colorful produce and green leafy vegetables—including whole pumpkin, whole butternut squash, apples, pears, carrots, kale, and mustard greens—provide such an abundance of vitamins and minerals that there is only one supplement added to this diet: zinc proteinate! Botanicals such as sarsaparilla root, althea root, and rosehips provide nutrients that a dog in the wild could encounter either by foraging or by eating the stomach contents of prey animals. This all-life-stages diet is a fabulous choice for picky puppies and adult dogs!

About The Manufacturer

Acana is a high-meat, low-carbohydrate dry dog food line produced by Champion Pet Foods, a Canadian pet food company that specializes in making Biologically Appropriate pet diets: diets that are as close as possible to what the animal would naturally eat in the wild. All Champion Pet Food diets are made according to the whole prey model, which includes muscle meat, organ meat, bone, and cartilage in the diet. The whole prey model provides abundant sources of naturally-occurring amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, meaning that very few synthetic supplements have to be added to make the diet complete and balanced for your pet! Naturally-occurring nutrients are more bio-available than are synthetics, and are therefore of greater use to the body. Acana features fresh, regionally sourced ingredients that are preservative free and that are delivered to Champion Pet Food’s kitchens within two days of harvest. Acana dog diets feature 70% meat, and 30% fruits, vegetables, and botanicals.
